The Treasure Found Within

The chains inside
Create the chains of the world.
What is it deep within
That births venerated gold?

Is it hidden in the chambers of my heart,
Or woven through the tissue of my brain?
What secret flame within my soul
Can heal the human pain?

I envision it as the destination
Of some century-old quest.
Where empires of Spain and Byzantium
Seek the emerald-lined chest.

It shines like suns that never set,
A light no mortal eye could bear.
The source of life itself, perhaps;
The breath that moves the air.

Its power whispers through the ages,
Through legend, fable, song, and prayer.
At the heart of every sacred story,
It waits for those who dare.

We chase it through the centuries;
Through science, faith, and art.
That spectral gold, that stardust soul,
The prism in the heart.

We dream beyond our mortal shells,
Beyond this material prison.
We seek the fire the gods once held,
To light our lives, our prism.

A fountain of youth in every hue,
Of pink, purple and green.
A thousand jewels for every soul,
For all who’ve ever been.

Rubies enough for every tear,
Sapphires for every night,
Diamonds that blaze through every fear,
A storm of holy light.

When the lightning strikes at last,
And chains dissolve like sea to foam,
We’ll find the gold was never lost,
It lived within our own.
